Dearest Momsie and Popsicle,
Dec. 6th, 2008 01:34 amOne word for Wicked: WOW
I finally saw Wicked tonight with Courtney and I seriously left The Pantages speechless. I don't even know how to describe it. It was just utterly amazing. I was left breathless, I smiled, I laughed, I even teared up at the end. I seriously wish I could sing like that. It was awesome.
Glinda/Megan Hilty was absolutely adorable. I knew her character was VERY PEPPY but all those backwards arching, noises, and almost childish behavior/actions were hilarious. Oh and all those made-up words. XD I really loved Elphaba/Eden Espinosa's voice. Fiyero/Derrick Williams and Boq/Eddy Rioseco were hot, hahaha. Okay, Boq was hot in a dorky way...
Oh haha. The part where Glinda throws the witch hat to Elphie who's supposed to catch it. She missed and it fell to the floor just to have both of them and Fiyero stare at it for like a few seconds before Fiyero grabbed it and gave it to Elphie. XDD
I was also IN LOVE with the costumes and set. Oh man, what I would give to make anything for a theatrical performance or even to see the workings of it all. It was really interesting trying to figure out how everything worked, like the light!rain and things sliding into place on tracks in the stage that was probably moved from underneath. After the show, some cast members were in the lobby with buckets for donations for...I don't remember what they said but oh man, I wanted to feel up this one guy's coat, lmao. The detail was :O.
For dinner, we went to Hollywood & Highland and picked a random restaurant. We ended up having panini and crepes at The French Crepe Company. It was a bit pricey for okay food. Afterwards it was an adventure to figure out if there was a shuttle to the show as I didn't really want to move my car and I had heard that there was such a thing. After wandering around a bit lost, we finally found the information desk to purchase tickets like 5 minutes before the shuttle left. @D@;
Man, if only tickets weren't so expensive I'd totally go watch it again. They should totally release musicals on DVD, haha.
