Decided to change my LJ layout and profile. So woo~

Anyway, that backlog. San Francisco! I went last year during Labor Day weekend and then again for Dicken's Fair, thus I'm just going to clump both trips into one post cuz I’m lazy efficient like that.

Labor Day Weekend
- Didn't do much cuz herp derp good idea, let's go on a holiday weekend. I should've known it'd be busy as hell, ah well.
- Traffic everywhere. Itinerary didn't stand a chance.
- Thank you [livejournal.com profile] ziggybecket for housing and chauffeuring us girls!
- Lisa's Treasures for high tea was delicious. The best scones I've ever tasted. Someone also needs to tell them to not use fanciful script font for their logotype. No one can read it from afar.
- Went to the Winchester House for the first time ever. It was a lot more bizarre than creepy. They didn't allow us to take photos indoors, boo. I kept on almost tripping on those easy steps.
- Watched movies. I I think we watched Tangled, the crazy, trippy live action Alice and something else? I know Doctor Who was in there somewhere.
- Clam chowder in a bread bowl at Boudin's! I think we also went to some random pizza place near the Winchester House that was pretty darn good.
- Daiso. I want everything.
- Went to my first loli store. I felt totally out of place, but they do have some cute things. I still don't think I'll ever wear that stuff though.
- Sad we didn't get to try all the cool places Oscar wanted to take us to eat. :C
- HOLY MOTHER FUCKING GOD, LOMBARD STREET. Fuck that shit. Going up the incline to get to the top of the famous street was so freakin’ scary and I wasn't even the one driving.
- Got a cute heart patterned scarf!
- Visited Golden Gate Park’s Japanese garden. My god, it was gorgeous!
- Got to climb up one of those really high arch Japanese bridges. It was kinda scary. I kinda scrambled up it like a retard. XD
- GIANT HAWK within like 20 ft of me. o__o
- Ghiradelli’s salted caramel hot chocolate was heavenly. Omg, I want another one just thinking about it.

The rest of the photos are here.

Dickens Fair
- Miso butter corn ramen at Himawari's in San Mateo! It sounded disgusting and delicious at the same time. I'm glad it was the latter.
- I drove in SF for the first time! They're as bad as So Cal drivers...
- Whee bridges~
- Wtf @ people standing at least a couple feet on the street, off the curb when it's not their turn to cross the street.
- Stayed at Hotel Majestic. Wow, it's an old hotel. I think it's the oldest running hotel in the city. It was gorgeous inside and out.
- Had a really weird, slightly creepy dream regarding our room's bathroom. O_o;
- Dickens Fair was cool. I like it a lot better than Ren Faire. I think it's cuz all the volunteer actors are so much more nicer than the Ren Faire ones, which - to me - tend to be rude (unless that’s how they were back in that time period) and then I don't know how to interact with them. Maybe also cuz Dickens is Christmas themed, hence the all-around cheerfulness?
- I went as a newsboy or something like it. Yup.
- There was some guy who was in the character of a drunkard, so he was passed out along the side of a building, haha. What an easy job! [livejournal.com profile] sakurae and I were tre amused.
- Bought myself a purdy necklace.
- Oogled what Annie called an old lady hat, but it was cute on me.
- Finally had spiked apple cider! It was okay, haha. Not sure what I was expecting.
- Didn't get to try a pasty among other British foods cuz lines were way too long.
- Failed attempt at getting German food. :C
- Tried carpaccio pizza. I should've known it wouldn't be warm cuz carpaccio = raw beef. And hot pizza >>>>> room temperature pizza. Good job, me.
- Okonomiyaki!! *^*
- Delightful tea time at Tan Tan.
- I wish our Kinokuniya was as large as the one in Japantown. But then maybe it's a good thing or else I'd never find my way out ever.

The rest of the photos are here.

Yeah, it's almost a month late. Shush.

AX this year was like the con of derp faces. :B I volunteered with ACP for the first time. Yup, I was a booth babe dude. I stood there looking purdy, posing for pics, handed out a few things...stood prettily by the flatscreen when Drrr!! was on, haha. Overall, the experience was pretty awesome! I had a great time and everyone was real nice~ :3 I somehow felt productive, too! Other than that, I wore two other costumes and didn't really get to wander around and loiter as much as I usually did. Hence, the lack of photos and rather a repeat of us nerds at the Aniplex booth instead. XD; I also don't think I'll get a hotel room a this con again...it's just not worth it. I'd rather just carpool. Anyway, on with the report!

IT'S FRIDAY, FRIDAY, FRIDAY:
- Actual work from 9 - 1 pm.
- Quick lunch at Mitsuwa Woori Market after some hotel food stash shopping.
- Thank you gps app for taking me down a hella congested street that made me late. 8|
- Ninja change into Mikado in car.
- Lunch not sitting well with me at all. ;___;
- Drrr!! gathering at Aniplex booth. Good turnout. Some lulz times.
- "Are you from Tennessee, cuz you're the only ten I see. ;]"
- Aaah, Karu!! Second time I ever see her and she's going to Japan for a while. ;C
- I'm one of two (that I saw) Mikado's at con. No love for awkward turtle.
- Go home to pack and drive over to [livejournal.com profile] sakurae's.
- Guitar Center closed > Wal*Mart has no instruments section > ended up at Best Buy to get Gita a strap. Also, yay new headphones. I really thought I was going deaf, lol.
- TGIF dinnar. Note: Never get a fruit cup late at night. Gross. Actually, what was I thinking in getting fruit at TGIF??!
- Hotel check-in: 12:30 am...
- Fancy big shower head in shower. It's so retarded to use if you're not washing your hair though.
- Stay up till ~3 am helping Annie with her X costume.

TOMORROW IS SATURDAY:
- Wow, hotel coffee is actually STRONG, instead of the usual dirty water.
- Last minute scurry to help finish X, but mission failed.
- Decide to wear Yui. Get half of makeup done only to find out we have to change rooms. Supposedly we're to have a double, not one king. Oops. Change into Izzy instead.
- Maybelline's gel eyeliner is awesome. :O
- Couldn't make it to Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing showing. Crrryyy.
- Brunch at The Farm of Beverly Hills.
- Digimon times with [livejournal.com profile] rockolla. Best bros. ♥
- Got thru less than half of dealer's hall. Nothing good. :C
- Splurge on Eden of the East box set and FLCL dvd at Funi booth. Yay, new PJ shirt!
- People-watched with [livejournal.com profile] random_karen on con center floor.
- Hi, hot Luffy and I don't even read One Piece.
- Angry Nightwing is angry.
- I still don't understand Vocaloid. You guys paid to see a projection...
- Late ass dinner at Yard House with fun folks. Yummy though.
- [livejournal.com profile] rukawagf kisses. :>
- Somehow ended up partying in Cabusi's room.

AND SUNDAY COMES AFTERWARDS:
- Wake up at 9 am. Should've woken up at 8 am cuz hi, we need to check out. Fuuuuccck.
- Pack like the wind, separate Yui from rest of luggage, attempt to have a cuppa joe and some mocha bun and get ready for Mikado -- all at the same time. @____@;
- Scramble to find friend's room to store Yui in > go to wrong floor...
- Book it across from JW Marriot to South Hall. I am SO not in shape. I'm sorry for being late! ;___;
- Drrr!! dating game was part lulz, part aaaawkward.
- Oogling a slutty!Benio to see how she made her outfit.
- Nom nom @ one of the food trucks.
- A wild sister shows up.
- Dealer's hall with sister and [livejournal.com profile] kikyouluver.
- Couldn't find that one CosCraft issue. :C
- No time for artist's alley.
- Human barricade for Drrr!! VA autograph session. So not intimidating enough with Karu. So many people tried to walk past us or didn't see us there. Sob.
- Kicked a dude out for sneaking into line without a ticket. >:|
- Not too into VAs tbh, but when they were there and were all like excited to see us, it got pretty cool. :Db
- Darrel Guilbeau getting all excited that there was a Mikado. XD
- No one in the cast believes that I made the track jacket, lol.
- Simon's English voice = awesome sauce. I ♥ sushi.
- Dude, dudeeee. Blake Lewis came. Suddenry wished I was in Kasuka. B'aww.
- Changed into Yui. Thank you to, [livejournal.com profile] kikyou_lover and Ken for taking pics of me!
- Stupid guitar strap kept on snapping off. Had a few near miss calls. @__@
- Literal flashing banging of people. LOL.

So, uhm on Monday. I could've (and should've) just gone back. I went to work because on Friday boss lady said, "You're coming in on Monday, right?" in that sort of tone that insinuated that she did actually indeed want you to come in on a holiday that majority of normal human beings have off. So I'm there, a coworker's surprised I'm there. Then a warehouse worker expressed surprise. And here's the kicker, her father -- the freakin' CEO of the parent company -- was like, "Why are you here, Cindy?"

Well, fuck her. And well, at least I got paid that day for not really doing much, *cough*.

Dinner made up for it though. A giant group of us met up in Little Tokyo at the place where they have the BIKKURI DON. That was awesome. :D

It was wonderful seeing those that I did. And I hope I get to see those that I didn't next time!

Photos be here. )

Next con, I believe, should be PMX. I'm still on the fence for YCon at the moment.

This year's Fanime was kinda eh to me. I didn't get to party as much as I would've liked. It was odd to not bump into someone I know every five feet. But I did get to hang out with people I don't normally hang out with! Most plans were either rushed or fell through. Cosplaying was somewhat not as fulfilling as usual for some reason. I wore about half of what I brought, lol. Then there was lack of photoshoots and of me being the wannabe photographer. But there were some highlights, including BEST IN SHOW and random silly moments with friends. :]

FRIDAY:
- Hella late to con. ♥ to [livejournal.com profile] random_karen for being my carpool partner.
- MADE IT FROM LA TO SJ ON ONE TANK OF GAS. WAT. Okay, maybe I should give Knives some credit. She is a new car, but I was expecting to have to refuel at least once. I guess not!
- I love cruise control. Why did I never use it until now? I've been missing out!
- Go to Target for button-up vest > come out with whiskey and coke. Alright.
- Saw a flying killer whale. :O
- Paneraaaa with [livejournal.com profile] eeveil and [livejournal.com profile] bluestraggler. I think I still like Corner Bakery better. :x
- Wrestled with [livejournal.com profile] sakurae's Euphemia sleeves of doom.
- Talking closet strikes again.
- Drew amazing Lamont eyebrows on Nat.
- What do you mean there's no printed schedule!?
- Zombie office building. 8|
- Kasuka times with [livejournal.com profile] fullmetal_tora, [livejournal.com profile] konishii and Tina. Thank you Dan for taking pics! Couldn't wear him with Eve. :C
- Someone called me a "pretty" Kasuka. XD
- No Maka...
- Librarians vs. Barbarians partyyyy.

SATURDAY:
- Nom nom on 85º Bakery goods. Thanks Kristen for bringing them!
- Hetalia times. How did I get myself talked into this? Thank you [livejournal.com profile] super_no_1 for humoring us with some last minute photos. And thank you [livejournal.com profile] ycysusan for letting me borrow your Taiwan!
- AHH, A KINO. I should've stared at her pouches and other parts of the outfit to see how to make mine. :<
- No Auel...
- Kasuka again for MusicFest. Should've just gone as a civvie. Where were you, Eve? :P
- Tandoori with [livejournal.com profile] bombaycake and Annie. I wish I can handle spicy foods...I'm stuck with only ever getting the yogurt-marinated stuff.
- Hung out with [livejournal.com profile] mingswly, Eva, Ann, Stella, Susan, [livejournal.com profile] tenshiyaki + boyfriend and more in line for MusicFest.
- Started raining. :O Then apparently it started pouring when we all got inside the auditorium.
- Matsushita Yuya is such a pretty pretty boy. He was reading Engrish off of note cards. How adorable was that!? And he couldn't pronounce Brack Butrer. Pfft.
- I enjoyed FLOW more this second time around. I've no idea why.
- Survived combo attack of B.O. from two random otaku who tried to weasel their way closer to the stage. /gags
- Lonely Island Creepers!
- Amusedly watched Camille and Iris walk only about ten feet in twenty minutes cuz they were too sexy in Psylocke and Mai, respectiviely. I think we made some guys jealous cuz we just ran up to hug them and held up the crowd forming to take pics, bwahaha!
- Recognized [livejournal.com profile] mymerrilymemory's cleavage from a floor above.
- Hoagie dinner at midnight with [livejournal.com profile] ziggybecket. I don't even.
- Stumbled upon a whole slew of people (Steph, Setsu, [livejournal.com profile] hakuku, [livejournal.com profile] akusesu, Camille, Iris, Dustin, etc.) I rarely get to hang out with on first floor of con center on way to room. Ended up chilling with them for a while.
- Soju + AzN OJ + Calpico = not bad. Thanks Eric for sharing some! As long as [livejournal.com profile] evalime doesn't make it. /still thinking about that mango thing from Sakura Gathering, ew...
- Hooker heels walk off turned dance off. /entranced
- Amazed at how well Jimmy can walk in hooker heels. o__o

SUNDAY:
- Hilton buffet breakfast. Aaah, real breakfast foooood.
- No Yui...
- Gay kitty boy time with [livejournal.com profile] praedestinatio.
- Steph to the rescue with kitty ears!
- Bought new and better Suu wig from Epic Cosplay.
- Mickey D's with Gin.
- Making faces at Evan every time we saw each other. XD
- Masq was surprisingly good this year even though it had a lot of dancing, kissing and Pokemans. I still want Darryl as the host, not Ric Myers. Booo.
- Loved loved loved educational zombiefied Chevalier/Rose of Versailles, Star Driver men in tights and Portal skits.
- Cheering and complaining during masq on Twitter with friends.
- Horrified at who I think was dancing Ino from a few years back.
- AAAH BEST IN SHOWWWWW (I was the lone stage ninja that saved the day skit, lolol).
- Late ass dinner at Original Joe's. Thank you so much for seating a party of 10 half an hour before close. ;~; Though snippy waiter was snippy.
- Yes, random photog guy from dinner. I am aware of how to use a camera. Maybe I should've purposely taken a horrible pic.

MONDAY:
- Most dericious blueberry muffin and cafe latte from Peet's.
- Kristen cutting mullét wig to Mikado.
- DRRR!! times. I was apparently the only Mikado all weekend? No love for Mikadooo. This girl thought the same, lol.
- Breezed thru AA and Dealer's Hall cuz I wasn't able to on previous days. Got the cutest Spirited Away fanart! ;o; And a Knite poster. :]
- Couldn't find the purikura machine, found out it was in gaming hall, then forgot about it….B'aw.
- Lunch at Hydration with Kristen, Tora, Nat, Oscar, Tina + 2 others.
- Quick shoot with Susan. Thank you!
- Sonic! I finally got to go to a Sonic! I got a mocha java chiller. While it was yummy, the calories made me cringe. Their tater tots were pretty good, too.
- FREEWAY PARTY. Some accident closed down all southbound lanes on 5 for about half an hour.
- Kimi running AROUND my car right when we stopped. Me: /jaw dropped, eyes following her
- Thank god for Karen reading my Twitter outta boredom and finding [livejournal.com profile] hybrid_twist's suggestion of using a detour to avoid those two construction zones. But going 25 miles due east before going south again was still kinda ew.
- AHHHH @ two cars who tried to surpass other cars in their own lane by coming into ours and barely making it back in. @___@
- On the road for 7 hours. /ded Used less gas coming down than going up. I guess not using a/c makes a pretty big difference...

evanae: (I be trollin')
I had a pretty good weekend. :)

As most of you know, a few months ago I dropped the camera that a handful of you so graciously surprised me with a few years ago after my AX bag incident. I finally decided to buy a new camera and I ended up with the Canon PowerShot ELPH 300HS. After an almost mishap which included my roommate missing the delivery guy trying to buzz in and me having to pick up the damn thing myself, I finally had the camera in my hands by around 3 pm. (Thank you [livejournal.com profile] tidus_dream for mentioning that I could pick it up myself!) This effectively made me have to cancel a couple family plans -- one of which I didn't want to do anyway -- so that left me with...

Fuddrucker's!

For my sexy Fritter, [livejournal.com profile] eeveil's birthday. I've never had their burgers before. I think I only tried their chili cheese fries way back in high school. So thus, I accidentally slightly embarrassed myself when ordering…I didn't know you added the toppings and condiments yourself. >_>; Anywayyy, the burger was pretty good. It was nice and chill and it was great to see a few faces that I normally don't get to see! Happy Birthday, Eve! :D

Sunday was poppy times with [livejournal.com profile] super_no_1, [livejournal.com profile] random_karen, [livejournal.com profile] shuupoo and Russian!Anela. Nergene was kind enough to drive us girls out into the middle of nowhere. We had lunch at Marie Callender's which took way too long thanks to it being Easter, but food is food and food in tummy is even better! Well, minus their hollandaise sauce. It was grossss. Too thick. Bleh.

Afterwards, we were off for some butt-massaging, off-road driving! It was kind of hard to find a patch of poppies we agreed with. It seriously would look like it'd be an abundant and awesome patch, only for us to realize that they're not as densely cluttered together as they seemed from a distance. :( We finally pick a spot, step out of the car and wham! We were hit with like 40-50 mph winds, lol. FUN TIMES.

OH OH AND I TOTALLY ROLLED AROUND IN THEM. And consequently got a bajillion burs on my coat and myself. Ow.

Pics be here. )

I had a lot of my running amok and being creepy photographer with [livejournal.com profile] evalime's camera at Balboa Park. It's making me want one of my own...but they're almost as much as an actual DSLR. So I'm not sure if it's even worth it -- might as well get the real deal, y'know?

Anyway, pics! Thank you [livejournal.com profile] random_karen, [livejournal.com profile] konishii, [livejournal.com profile] itsuka, Dustin and Jin for letting me take photos of you guys! I do hope you like them. :>

Cosplay is

serious business.

My faves. )

Late report is late.

But aaahhh omfggggg Weezerrrrrr. *_____*

Their tour was called the Memories Tour, in which they'll play their first album, fondly known as the Blue album, and their second album, Pinkerton, in its entirety over a course of two shows in each venue. I went to the November 26th show, which was them playing the Blue album in its entirety. Steph and I REALLY wanted to go to the Pinkerton one instead, but Ben and his friends didn't know it as well. So POO. Anyway, this was the second time I've ever seen them live -- the first was with the Foo Fighters in Long Beach. You'd think I'd have seen them more times than that being that I'm such a fangirl when it comes to them...

Best Coast was the opening band for them. I had no idea they were opening. It came as a surprise for me that I knew them, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lachraine randomly sending me a link to their MV for "Boyfriend" a few weeks before. They were alright -- a bit too sleepy and chill for my tastes.

Actually, while they were on. Steph and I went to the restrooms and ended up taking pics with this cut-out stand thing they did with their Blue album cover for lolz. Pic's somewhere below.

On with the show!

First setlist, they sang a few songs from each album, from latest to second to last (or in this case, first?).

Setlist #1:
Memories - A fitting opener.
(If You're Wondering If I Want Too)  I Want You To - Haha they had Hurley/Jorge Garcia (yes, you read that right) join them for this song! XDb
Troublemaker - Rivers decided to be the troublemaker that he is and ran amok amongst us, which made me wish I had closer seats. I COULD'VE LIKE TOUCHED HIM, IDK.
Pork and Beans - I think he was still running around like a crazy.
Beverly Hills
Keep Fishin' - Brain sang this, d'aw.
Photograph
Island In The Sun - With Bethany from Best Coast. Such a cute song~
Hash Pipe - YEAAHHHH.
Falling For You

During intermission Karl came out and shared and relived some memories with us that ranged from old flyers when they used to play for free to random photos. He also paid tribute to Mykel and Carli. ;o; Then, Rivers walked out, ready to rock. Now, now was time for what everyone was waiting for!

Setlist #2:
My Name Is Jonas - Yeah, I think I started spazzing.
No One Else
The World Has Turned and Left Me Here - Apparently, this is the first time it's been played live since 1996!
Buddy Holly - Everyone sang along sooo loud!
Undone - The Sweater Song - I love this song...
Surf Wax America
Say It Ain't So - Everyone sang along even louder to this, too! I have a video of this if anyone's interested.
In The Garage
Holiday - First time played live since 2002.
Only In Dreams - First time played live since 2002.

Fave, but hella blurry, pics. :] )
evanae: (You don't say?)
✿ Happy Valentine's, S.A.D., S.P.A.T., Whatever Day. I enjoyed it with a nice cold bottle of Blue Moon. ;Db

Weekend recap of sorts:
✿ Friday was dinner with Da Posse at Home. We don't nearly do this enough, but then again when we do, it makes it all that much more awesome. We got free drinks from the bartender cuz he was apparently new and needed the practice. Hey, it was free...and thankfully, were decently made. Afterwards, we went to visit Steph at Ye Rustic Inn a block away. Had more drinks, which led toan impromptu love life counseling session for one of us, which then led to guy bashing and then I think we all just ended up feeling bitter, lol.

✿ Saturday was LACMA day with [livejournal.com profile] sakurae and [livejournal.com profile] random_karen for their European fashion exhibit. We had a yummy late lunch at Johnny Rocket's at Farmer's Market before we headed over, where we met up with Ali. The exhibit itself was quite fascinating. It's really amazing how much work went into making these fabrics and garments for the well off. I had no idea they embroidered designs onto the bolt of fabric first and thus leaving essentially the pattern pieces for the garment. For some reason, I thought they embroidered the pieces when they were already cut out or when they were sewn together already, but before the lining. That and a few other pieces just blew my mind! I was trying to fathom HOW they made it. I feel like I have no right to complain when I make stuff because these people were like PRO.

Oh, and we cracked a joke at how a lot of the materials looked like what we'd use for upholstery now and amused a nearby guard. XD

I also LOVED the paper wigs on the mannequins! I wanted to play with them~

My fave and some interesting things. )

Then something horrible happened: When we were almost done gawking at the exhibit, I dropped my camera. The lens barrel got bent and the metal plate fell off. B'awwwww. ;___________;

RIP Camera-chan. )

✿ Sunday was early celebration for my mom's birthday that's this Wednesday. We went to this restaurant that my parents like, but I don't. Proof: Their mapo tofu was a disappointment.

✿ Had a couple weird dreams the past month.

First one: was interesting... )
evanae: (Lovedrunk punch)
Hi all~

Happy Chinese New Year!

This was a little something [livejournal.com profile] bluestraggler and I collab'ed on. It's actually missing her half, lol. So uh, I'll upload the final one later on. It somehow wasn't very hard to talk me into drawing Hetalia. Taiwan's just so cute. :x I also surprised myself with the dynamic posing and I actually really like it for once and minus a few proportional errors.

I had dinner with the family on New Year's Eve. My sister's boyfriend brought some delicious mini brownies. *___*

On the day of, I went to the Huntington Library with Ben. It wasn't as awesome as I thought it'd be – I think I went there as a kid, but obviously don't remember anything from the trip. Or maybe I'm a bit spoiled from the Arboretum. But then again, all these garden places look the same. There are only so many plants. The magnolias were REALLY pretty though. :O Anyway, have some pics that I was too lazy to edit. :x

Plants. Woo. )

Today, [livejournal.com profile] random_karen and I went on an adventure to Chinatown for their Chinese New Year festival. We braved the subways of Los Angeles to Union Station cuz I didn't want to deal with parking and well, it wasn't that bad, haha. The last time I rode them was about 8 or 9 years ago, so I wasn't sure what to expect.

We met up with [livejournal.com profile] super_no_1, [livejournal.com profile] itsuka and [livejournal.com profile] derishnol near that somewhat gaudy dragon entrance on Broadway and Cesar Chavez and just walked around. There were many cutesy, artsy booths. I bought a necklace and a "Keep Calm and Carry On" pin (where did that even originate from?). I had wanted to try the grilled cheese truck, but couldn't find it! So I resorted to the Munchie Machine(?) where I had a veggetini sandwich which was pretty good but needed more CHEESE. Then, of course, we find that there were more food trucks around the bend, including the one I had wanted to try all along. Cry. ;( Ah well.

After wandering a bit more, we stopped to watch part of the parade. It was somewhat lackluster and almost kinda sad because it seemed that most people didn't know who any of the people in the parade were. Like, who's the cast of Paper Son? But I can now say I saw Carl Bell in person! :D Haha.

We walked by some ping pong tables near the art galleries there. SO MUCH ACTION GOING ON. Then we found an empty lot with a bunch more booths of the less creative type. Pechanga was there, lol. As well as the FBI and Navy, uhhh. The funnel cake booth teased me. We thought it to be too crowded and decided to be lazy and ride the Gold Line a whopping two stops to Little Tokyo, haha. There we had yummy Yogurtland and then, Jennifer and Noel left. :C Then rest of us had sang out hearts out at Max Karaoke. :Db

Dragons and such. )

Yup. All in all. A fun day. :]
evanae: (Happy)
✿ So...Anime LA. There's not much for me to say about this con cuz well, I only ended up going on Sunday because I was suffering from a rather nasty NYE SARS. I actually still have the cough from it. D: Overall, it was pretty chill -- I just loitered and lollygagged around wearing Yui with a group of awesome moe people that included [livejournal.com profile] itsuka, [livejournal.com profile] konishii and Kellen. Also got a chance to sit down and chat with [livejournal.com profile] nerdcore which somehow is rare. So that was nice. And as always, it was a pleasure to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] random_karen in her sexy UK!pirateness. It was awesome seeing everyone that I did! And I'm sorry to those I missed~ ♥

I had to fix up Yui from last ALA's snapped strap mishap. This time the beads were thread through with jewelry wire, so yay no risk of snapping! Except, of course something had to go wrong cuz it ain't cosplay until you've had a wardrobe malfunction. >.<; I apparently didn't crimp a crimper bead hard enough to close it off entirely and the loop popped out so it ended up being sewn onto my dress somehow. Fun times.

Apparently my SD card decided to go kaput that weekend. All of the photos that Bobby and I took are corrupted. :C So uh, here's several from my phone and the rest were yoinked off the internets.

Taken by this dude.

Next con: Fanime!

✿ I was actually planning on wearing Spartoi!Maka with her coat, but alas that NYE SARS got the best of me. Karen knows! XD;

I took more pics but like...they didn't really show progress. Fail. XD So you get pics of how the coat looks like as of now. I'm also fixing the stupid sailor collar. Maybe I'll take pics of that when I get to it...We'll see.

PMX 2010

Nov. 28th, 2010 12:24 pm
evanae: (Maka // Pocky)
Lalala, okay PMX.

- Location, location. It was bleh. It was confusing and maze-like and omg clusterfuck of people, especially in that one zig-zagging hallway. @_@; I was told that they moved to Pasadena cuz a lot of the attendees are from this area? Really? Do they have their stats correct?
- I got recognized in Teito and stopped for a pic within 5 minutes of entering the hotel and they KNEW who I was! That was a firstttt.
- Photoshoot at a church two blocks from the con. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] epiic for pics! Can't wait to see them~ I just wish we had textbooks, aaahhhh! It would've been perfecttt. Ah well. u__u;
- Spartoi!Maka time! Thank you [livejournal.com profile] kikyouluver and co. for letting me use you guys' room to change! ♥
- Loitered around foreverrrr.
- Guy at Rubio's thought I was Chun Li. Wut.
- ♥ @ [livejournal.com profile] sani_caranza for letting me borrow your key card so I could get back upstairs.
- Gakuen party time! Kinda just staked a claim on this one armchair and grabbed me a [livejournal.com profile] hakuku for huggles.
- Didn't go back on Sunday as planned. Lost my voice and all that jazz. I hope I didn't give anyone my germies. I'm actually kinda sad I didn't get to rewear Yui. I'm also sad I didn't get to see some people. :C

Pics be here. )

Also, I've put up some things for sale over at my new seller's journal. Click meee~
evanae: (You don't say?)
✿ So Halloween. This year, I decided to brave the chaos and potentially retina-damaging ass-less costumes that make up the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval. My trusty sidekicks were [livejournal.com profile] silvernaofficer as Sexy No Jutsu!Bear Jew and Steph as an angel.

Let's see...
- Didn't get there until around 7:30 pm.
- Got lucky with finding FREE street parking. Booyah!
- Delicious dinner of panini portabella and a matcha latte at Urth Cafe.
- Off into the droves of people!
- Too many "My father didn't love me enough" costumes.
- It was almost like the dealer's hall at AX this year. Bons says it's almost like SDCC dealer's hall, but I wouldn't know, lol.
- I missed Prince Poppycock!!! DX
- Ben was taking forever to get back to me about where to meet up with him.
- Spotty reception was spotty.
- Gay gogo dancer can't dance. It was really awkward to watch. Neither can some stripper girl who came out of a huge Chinese takeout box.
- Ended up at the Troubadour. Haven't been there since Good Charlotte in my high days, omggg. I remember it being bigger. Maybe that bar wasn't there before...
- Had a total of 1 drink the entire night. Lameee.
- Found Ben and his friends. They're smashed, haha.
- Too much walkingggg.
- Got home around 1 am? Idk how I chatted a bit with [livejournal.com profile] konishii and Jav. Passed out at like 2 am?

I don't know if I'd go again. It was quite the experience - kind of was like a con meets Vegas strip minus the booze on the streets - but it wasn't anything amazing. Ah well. At least I can say I've gone once.

Click for pics. )

✿ This is one of the reasons I love fall/winter:

From Maxy-kun

Every other time, he ignores me unless he wants something, haha. ;o;

I cry at that hole in my shirt. It's my high school class shirt and bleach got on it...and ate a hole. :C

[livejournal.com profile] bluestraggler and I on Skype. On things that end with "ans" potentially being scary.
Nat: It's like how lesbians are scarier than gay men!
Me: ......*didn't hear correctly* Mexicans? O__o?
Nat: PFFTTTT. NOOO, LESBIANS.

✿ I realize I do not have the attention span for that 30 day meme. So yeah, no more of that. |D
evanae: (Mello // Chocolate stole my heart)
Saturday was [livejournal.com profile] konishii's Digimon shoot. I was Koushiro/Izzy Izumi for it! We had a picnic-themed shoot of sorts at some park named Dinosaur Park in Laguna Hills/Niguel/somewhere I don't quite remember as I only drove to [livejournal.com profile] itsuka and [livejournal.com profile] amandier's house, lol. We had loads of food and snacks. Fatty times were definitely had. :9 Photo times were had as well -- a big thanks to all those who took pics! I can't wait to see what you guys got~

I was able to play around in the playground of the somewhat dinosaur-themed park, as the name aptly implies. My god, I was sore the next day. I'm sure swimming in the evening did not help that at all. I don't know how I climbed around like a monkey when I was young. Maybe cuz I was also way lighter back then, less strain on your limbs, lol. I even shot out of a rather steep slide onto my ass in front of a family sitting there. Smooth move. BD;;

Tsunomon's design should've been though over...there were SO MANY innuendos and bad jokes regarding his horn. *cough*

Delicious burgers were nommed on at Red Robin as a late dinner. :V And then we chatted into the night.

I tamed Cookie the evil Pomeranian! She's adorable and SO FLUFFY!!!

Thank you to Kristen for attempting to organize such a large but epic group. And a thank you as well to Jennifer and Julie for letting me stay over (I love your bed, Jennifer! >.<; ) and feeding me. ♥ It was great to see those who I saw and nice to meet you new people. Welcome!

More here. )

OMG YAY, TOMORROW'S FRIDAY! *does a dance*

Btw, does anyone want to come with me to Santa Monica Place on Saturday at 2pm for Bird Pick's grand opening? Kinda don't wanna drive myself and I wasn't planning on staying long, I want to go look around the mall and go to the beach if possible just to at least dip my feet in.
evanae: (Default)
✿ I wanna go karaoke. Anyone wanna come with me? :C

✿ I also wanna go hiking here. It looks so cool! And I love the idea of having to cross rivers, but I don't have waterproof shoes...

✿ Saturday was the day of hanging out at people's houses. I went to [livejournal.com profile] lyceeangel's in the daytime where she made one of the best cupcakes I've ever had. It was a coffee chocolate cupcake with vanilla cream cheese frosting. *___* Then it was to [livejournal.com profile] strongest_shld's place where I almost got carpal tunnel thanks to Green Day Rockband. Woo!

✿ Have some random photos I've taken recently:

So the zoo. Los Angeles Zoo to be exact. It was fun. It was hot. It was a tad bit too crowded for my liking. It was cool to see all the animals, but at the same time I was a bit sad too that they were enclosed.

We got to catch the bird show. It was a bit short...but wow crazy birds!! I wish I got pics of them but they were kinda flying in and out from everywhere. It's really fascinating how smart birds are.

They had dinosaurs!

Hallo.

evanae: (Ritsuka // Okay)
✿ Wow, I didn't realize there were that many July babies. Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] tasu, [livejournal.com profile] kircheis, [livejournal.com profile] silver_ruby, [livejournal.com profile] treat, [livejournal.com profile] sani_caranza, [livejournal.com profile] aticktockheart, [livejournal.com profile] agentsakur9, [livejournal.com profile] bluestraggler, [livejournal.com profile] ycysusan, [livejournal.com profile] evalime, [livejournal.com profile] luffyxii and [livejournal.com profile] unlock!! ♥

✿ INCEPTION. I saw it with my sis on Saturday night and oh god, wow, that was one amazing movie. It gave me hope that the American movie industry isn't done for or well at least we should have only Christopher Nolan make movies. No more of this Cats vs. Dogs and Twilight shit.

... )

✿ I went to the LA Zoo two weeks ago with Ben, Sara and Alex. That was fun. But it was a very hot day. X__x; Even most of the animals were all lethargic, too. Pics will be up tonight!

✿ Speaking of pics, need to look at Fanime ones from [livejournal.com profile] sakurae and email [livejournal.com profile] bluestraggler and [livejournal.com profile] mirai_noah their Zeta photos.

✿ I've been itching to draw recently. Maybe I should cure that itch. Maybe with Inception fanart? Lol. But I suck at drawing real people though. It's so hard to draw them in their likeness. D;

✿ Oh yeah, I also Brazilian food for the first time on Sunday night. That was uber yummy. :9 The Yucca flour was interesting with the skirt steak, kinda like tempura or crushed croutons. I also had this one soda that was delicious. Wonder if I can find it readily in markets here...
evanae: (Yin // Happy)
Creepy photographer times with [livejournal.com profile] bluestraggler and [livejournal.com profile] mirai_noah. :]

Excuse the grainyness on some of these. Darn low indoor lighting + point and shoot. >.<;

Oh AX. Let's see...

FRIDAY:
✿ Wore Kasuka. :3 [livejournal.com profile] fullmetal_tora as my nii-san~
✿ Some random guy thought I was Sai from Blood+. Wut. Creeper alert went off, but turned out he wasn't one after all; it was his and his friends' first time at AX and each wanted a pic with me in like the most boring costume ever.... D'aww.
✿ Wandered around dealer's hall with Tora. Only got halfway through it. :C
✿ Obnoxious doujinshi booth was obnoxious and over-priced.
✿ Saw the epicness that was [livejournal.com profile] lionboogy's Shiva bike. Was still awesome even without the engine, haha.
✿ Found eeeverryoneee at the FF gathering(?).
✿ Changed into Micchon!
✿ Didn't end up going to Eden of the East panel. :CCC
✿ Instead, got EotE photoshoot with [livejournal.com profile] epiic!
✿ Met up with [livejournal.com profile] uruki and [livejournal.com profile] rynn_sama. Finally got to hang out more! ♥♥!!
✿ Wanted to go to Drrr! shoot Setsu (does she have an LJ?) invited me to, but went home instead to sweatshop over Maka. ;__;

SATURDAY:
✿ Spartoi Makamaka~ [livejournal.com profile] bluestraggler was my Black*Star~
✿ Guy at LACC parking strux: "You look barely old enough to drive."
✿ Really surprised there were like barely any Spartoi kids around. I heard there was only one at the gathering on Friday? Wow. And one Kasuka at the Drrr!! one...I should've gone. XD
✿ Wandered around AA with Nat.
✿ Found me a [livejournal.com profile] blackjackie999! ♥ I haven't seen her in like...THREE YEARS. AAAHHH.
[livejournal.com profile] sani_caranza and I took twinsie pics. :3
✿ Ghetto bus ride to Little Tokyo. @D@; This was the first time I've been on LA public transportation since 2002.
✿ Delicious Curry House dinner with [livejournal.com profile] bombaycake! Met Yuki and Shou.
✿ "Are you guys actresses? Do you get paid?" Lol, we wish. "Can we take a pic with you?" Lool.
✿ Found sexy Avatar people in the form of [livejournal.com profile] konishii, [livejournal.com profile] lyceeangel and Tora.
✿ Was a human reflector for Ted.
✿ Hung out in [livejournal.com profile] kikyouluver room. JW Marriot is gorgeous!
✿ Played creepy photographer for Nat and [livejournal.com profile] mirai_noah in some Gundam thing.

SUNDAY:
✿ Maka again! So sad that [livejournal.com profile] random_karen couldn't finish Soul in time. :C
✿ Chilled out in hallway between South and West hall. Found a [livejournal.com profile] silvernaofficer!
✿ Migrated to South hall. Found everyoneee. Chilled out on the floor again and took silly pics.
✿ *vuvuzelas going off everywhere* "It sounds like wooly mammoth mating season."
✿ Dinner at CPK with [livejournal.com profile] ziggybecket, [livejournal.com profile] slave_to_anime and Karen!

OVERALL:
✿ I winged the entire weekend and HAD FUN.
✿ Kinda camwhored myself with friends but it's something I almost never do. I always forget to take pics of myself wherever I am.
✿ Needed more alcamahol. :V
✿ Got to do a shoot! I curse indoor/low light environments = photos that're grainy to hell and back. >>;
✿ Saw and got to hang out with friends I normally don't get to see. But missed some people and then met new peoples. :]

Lotsa photos here! )
