Happy Chinese New Year!



This was a little something bluestraggler and I collab'ed on. It's actually missing her half, lol. So uh, I'll upload the final one later on. It somehow wasn't very hard to talk me into drawing Hetalia. Taiwan's just so cute. :x I also surprised myself with the dynamic posing and I actually really like it for once and minus a few proportional errors.

I had dinner with the family on New Year's Eve. My sister's boyfriend brought some delicious mini brownies. *___*

On the day of, I went to the Huntington Library with Ben. It wasn't as awesome as I thought it'd be – I think I went there as a kid, but obviously don't remember anything from the trip. Or maybe I'm a bit spoiled from the Arboretum. But then again, all these garden places look the same. There are only so many plants. The magnolias were REALLY pretty though. :O Anyway, have some pics that I was too lazy to edit. :x

Today, random_karen and I went on an adventure to Chinatown for their Chinese New Year festival. We braved the subways of Los Angeles to Union Station cuz I didn't want to deal with parking and well, it wasn't that bad, haha. The last time I rode them was about 8 or 9 years ago, so I wasn't sure what to expect.

We met up with super_no_1, itsuka and derishnol near that somewhat gaudy dragon entrance on Broadway and Cesar Chavez and just walked around. There were many cutesy, artsy booths. I bought a necklace and a "Keep Calm and Carry On" pin (where did that even originate from?). I had wanted to try the grilled cheese truck, but couldn't find it! So I resorted to the Munchie Machine(?) where I had a veggetini sandwich which was pretty good but needed more CHEESE. Then, of course, we find that there were more food trucks around the bend, including the one I had wanted to try all along. Cry. ;( Ah well.

After wandering a bit more, we stopped to watch part of the parade. It was somewhat lackluster and almost kinda sad because it seemed that most people didn't know who any of the people in the parade were. Like, who's the cast of Paper Son? But I can now say I saw Carl Bell in person! :D Haha.

We walked by some ping pong tables near the art galleries there. SO MUCH ACTION GOING ON. Then we found an empty lot with a bunch more booths of the less creative type. Pechanga was there, lol. As well as the FBI and Navy, uhhh. The funnel cake booth teased me. We thought it to be too crowded and decided to be lazy and ride the Gold Line a whopping two stops to Little Tokyo, haha. There we had yummy Yogurtland and then, Jennifer and Noel left. :C Then rest of us had sang out hearts out at Max Karaoke. :Db

Yup. All in all. A fun day. :]

I saw R.E.D. last night with silvernaofficer and mollypocket at the Arclight Theaters. Man, that theater's crazy fancy. Their board of movies tells you when seating's begun, in progress or stopped for a showing. It was also quite odd being able to choose where you sit. I've done the assigned seating in theaters but they were in Taiwan and I didn't get to choose. They also have a glorified usher welcoming us to the movie. I seriously thought she was going to give us a synopsis of what we were about to watch, but she didn't, lol. I liked how they had no movie trivia questions nor advertisements from local establishments before the showtime.

The movie itself was entertaining. I really loved Helen Mirren in it, haha. And John Malkovich wasn't bad either in a wow crazy man sort of way. He was very good for lulz. ( Cut for spoilers, in case. )

Afterwards, we were on a hunt for dinner. I had found a sushi place in Hollywood, only to find that it was closed, wtf. So, we wandered a bit down Hollywood Boulevard and ended up at Lotería, some fancier smancier Mexican place. The food was pretty good. I didn't appreciate our waiter not telling us that the chips and salsa/guacamole weren't on the house. But, I guess it was also our fault for not asking? We're all so used to getting free bread, chips and salsa, etc. at other restaurants.

Then it was off to Cinespace, where we weren't ready to be surrounded by hordes of hipsters. The carpet also vaguely smelled of soggy wetness. Gross. Then the carpet in the actual room with the stage was all sticky. Even grosser. I went for Wyatt's band One Silver Astronaut. They weren't bad, really chill mellow stuff. Though the xylophone bugged the crap out of me. Maybe the mic on it was too loud... Kiev was pretty cool. We didn't get to see the remaining bands as we left around 11:30 pm. Ah well.

Bonnie wanted to make a drinking game out of how many people were wearing flannel shirts. Or leggings. Or messenger bags. I think we would've been smashed within 20 minutes.

While walking to Cinespace, we came up to some random guy who was air shooting cars driving by with an imaginary rifle. o___o; Then there were three random teenage boys trying to chat it up with us or something. Oh Hollywood. It's like a tamer version of Vegas at night.

✿ Saturday was the day of hanging out at people's houses. I went to lyceeangel's in the daytime where she made one of the best cupcakes I've ever had. It was a coffee chocolate cupcake with vanilla cream cheese frosting. *___* Then it was to strongest_shld's place where I almost got carpal tunnel thanks to Green Day Rockband. Woo!

Anyway, I went to Balboa Park yesterday. It was really nice to see everyone! Really chill too -- in more ways than one. My thin trench coat did not help. :|

Then it was off for fatty times at Cocary for ravendarkwings's birthday dinner. I got stuck in horrendous traffic on the way over, but it was well worth it. Oh god, I ate too much and STILL had room for a honey green tea boba and custard taiyaki afterwards at Diamond Plaza. I didn't realize I was that hungry...

Apparently some dude from Super Junior (one of the two Chinese members) was at the restaurant, too. It was hilarious when eeveil freaked out and everyone else around the table was looking around all confused and like, "Who? What? Where?" XD; The least Asian of us all recognized the Asian pop star. Haha.

Also, Cesar is ADORABLE. The only chihuahua (ok well he's part) that I've ever liked.

I ended up deciding to go to ACC tomorrow. I'll be Gundam-ing it up with eeveil but most likely won't get there until after 3 pm as it's my dad's birthday and he wanted to have lunch instead of dinner. See y'all there!

Sunday night's dinner and a movie at Citywalk with silvernaofficer and mollypocket. I think we're seeing Zombieland? At least, I hope we are because I refuse to see Paranormal Activity. 8(

I still don't know what to do for my birthdayyyy. Can I just not do anything? Or someone come and kidnap me and take me somewhere? Blah.

Work was amazingly boring and slow today so uh, I ended up doodling. >>;



I still don't like drawing hands. Nor Soul's hair, I don't know why it's so hard. Maybe it's the lack of a decent amount of spikes? There's also a bit of awkwardness because they ended up not being on the same plane. I tried to fix in Photoshop but it still looks a bit off...Whatever, here ya go. Oh and anime characters and Japanese men are the only guys imo, who can pull off hair accessories and look hot in it -- I want a Japanese boyfriend so I can play with his hair. XDD

There was surprisingly no traffic on the drive down to the LBC to meet up with eeveil, kircheis, sprkldragon86 and Courtney at Super Mex for some good ol' Mexican food to celebrate Cinco de Mayo like the Mexicans we are. The food was GOOD though. The Cadillac Margarita was decent but wtf it had no salt on the rim of the glass. I wasn't about to sit there licking the cup and sprinkling salt from the shaker all night either...

Yesterday was dinner at Mimi's Cafe with Da Posse. It was nice to hang out with them since I don't see them as often as you guys. I had a sparkling wine strawberry lemonade. :9 What is this alcoholism? It's only Tuesday, omg. DX We made plans to go visit Steph in Chicago sometime in August, so if it happens before I go to Taiwan, I'll try to go as well. Woo traveling~

Nard recently gave me the P90X videos and I've been trying to start it but ugh...it just doesn't happen. u__u; I either am not home on weekends so I cannot continuously work out or I go out after work, come home and feel that it's too late to do anything. *flops around*

:: ACC was cool. It was just one big hang out. Met some new people and got to hang out with people I don't see too often.

The moustache party was pretty awesomely epic. I got out of getting one on my face cuz I was supposed to drive back home...but ended up staying the night, lol.

Watching drunken ppl is awesome btw. Haha. Don't think I've gotten kissed so many times in a night. Ilu honmani. :3 I felt like the second security guard was bored and/or uptight. He kept on looking like he wanted to get us in trouble for something...anything.

I saw part of Night at the Museum this morning in the room and now I want to rent it to finish it. D: It was kinda cute and funny.

I drove my ass up to SLO to visit bluestraggler yesterday. It sucked having to drive back down after only being there for a total of like 5 hours. >_<; But it was awesome seeing her~ Her kitties were so cute, too! *___* Viola is a bit psychotic though, the guy is so much nicer (kinda).

We had food, walked around a bit in downtown SLO and then perused cos.com and watched a bit of Gundam 00. Except I kept on making fun of everything. XD;

Operation: Clean the room to fit my junk is coming along well. I came home last nite to a reorganized room. It seems my mom took it upon herself to move shit around and it worked out well. The room looks like it has a lot more space now. Yay~ I still need to sort thru things though. =__=;

Ugh, why does my head hurt? *finds some Advil*
