It wasn't that bad where I was. Well, I AM like 30+ miles away from the epicenter. It was kinda like a rolling motion, nothing violent. I just slowly slid under my desk in case it got worse. XD

Though, now I feel like I should make an emergency kit...

:: Artists/designers/anyone?: What approach should I take for my graphic design portfolio site?

I've noticed that it's either whoa flashy or very minimalistic, both of which I don't really want to do. Cuz lol I fail in Flash and I don't think my work's awesome enough to have it stand on its own in a stark layout.

And I keep on designing layouts that are more structured except I can't help but wonder if that really fits this kind of site...I also wouldn't want to crowd my work either. :\

Yeah that was a really rolling earthquake, felt more like being on a boat than in a quake. Definitely get one of those emergency kits, I bet everyone's going to be selling them now!

For your portfolio, I think simple to medium complicated is the way to go - too complex and flashy and people won't stick around long enough to see your stuff. One Page Folios links to lots of simple designs that look pretty good. You can have more than one page, but I think it's easier to stick to a template or simple HTML than design a whole Flash navigation system (I used to do Flash, now I can't remember how to do anything in it).

Hrm, I've thought of one page portfolios, too. It seems way easier than having more than a page, but I also feel a bit like I'm following a trend. XD I don't know, I'll have to think about this cuz it's basically like your business card in a way, your first interview w/ potential clients/companies before you even step foot in their office. It needs to impress. I don't know why, but I fail at site design...maybe cuz the "canvas" is so...fluid. /shrugs :\

Really? I read that it was felt all the way down to SD as well as Vegas, but I'm like "....Vegas is 4 hrs or so away...and it was only a 5.8...srsly? O_o;"
