Who watches the Watchmen?
Mar. 14th, 2009 01:49 pm:: Sooo, Watchmen. I finally saw it yesterday with
nitaspitas. The theater was actually kind of sad; there were like maybe five other pairs/groups of people in the room with us. But then again, we saw it at 1 pm on a Friday. XD
Overall, I didn't think the movie was, "OMG THAT WAS FUCKING GOOD!!" but I'm not disappointed that I saw it either. I felt like the movie was a bit too deep and left me wanting some bits to be explained/explored more. Though I'm sure if I had read the comic, I wouldn't have been confused. Also, while I knew the that movie was going to be dark, I didn't know it was going to be as depressing...
The cinematography was pretty darn cool. I loved how the opening credits was treated. How it was like a montage of old photographs but also like actual scenes giving a glimpse into the first set of Watchmen and of history. I REALLY loved the scene where Rorschach goes into the restroom to kill that vengeful crime boss with the whole scene shot through the swinging door. And John and Laurie both think he was just taking a whiz, lmao. The usage of slow motion made the fight scenes that much more painful to watch but made it have that much more of an impact, does that even make sense? Lol.
Hrm, favorite character I think is a tie between Rorschach and Nite Owl. Rorschach is just awesome because he's insane yet not. Though his voice kept on making me think of Christian Bale in The Dark Knight. ^^; Nite Owl...he's a total Peter Parker or well, Clark Kent. At first, I was like, "Oh man...he's a total NERD." But then as the movie went on, I kind of grew fond of him. I also kind of enjoyed Ozymandias. He was interesting to watch as he was the perceived "villian." Both him and Doctor Manhattan talked interestingly, too.
What was up with the whole CG "peeling" of bodies throughout the movie? Happened with Doctor Manhattan, happened when John had that nightmare. O_o; I also wasn't expecting that much nudity, not that it embarrassed me but I was a bit like "Whoooa, okaaay. o_o" Well, I already knew of the blue package beforehand but since I knew of it, I kept on staring at it. LOL. >.>;
Oh and Silhouette was HOTTT. *__* I really wish she was in the movie more or at least talk. Boo.
*EDIT* Did you notice that Ozzy had a folder named "boys" on his floppy disk that Nite Owl was snooping through? Hahaha. XDD
:: Oh, I finally ate at Shinsengumi!! Lol. It was pretty good, but I still have to say I prefer Daikokuya and Santouka.
:: Soul Eater group for Fanime post is up! Click meee.
:: Sorry to those at the park today! I ended up feeling like being a lazy ass and stayed home. Not to mention, I do have a few errands to do and the weather is a bit bleak for me to want to be outdoors. I'll see some of you next week though~ ♥

Date: 2009-03-15 01:59 am (UTC)I loved the old B&W System 7 (or even earlier!) operating system. No futuristic OS for you! and yes, /r/ more Silhouette.
I skipped the park too, but I'm hoping to head there tomorrow morning. And definitely next week if the bloom's improved at all :)
